FAQ
Do you have any boys teams?
-Not this season. If enough boys show interest, we may add 3 teams in Fall 2008.
Can my daughter still try out for a team?
-Tryouts will be completed by December 1, 2007. As long as you contact us prior to that date, we can arrange a tryout for the 2008 season. We may have a spot or two on specific teams throughout the season, please call for more information.
When does the club season actually start? How long does it last?
-The 2008 club season begins in January and goes until June. Feel free to look at the SCVA schedule.
How many teams do you have?
-We will have at least 6 teams this year: 12 & under, 14 & under, 15 & under, 16 & under and 18 & under. We plan on having two 14’s teams. We will have as many teams as we have players.
Does my daughter need to have any volleyball experience to play for your club?
-Our goal as a club is to have as many teams as there are players. Each team will have varying levels of ability.
We welcome all levels of play, especially beginners.
How often do you practice?
-Each team will practice two nights a week. There will be optional clinics that your daughter is invited to attend in addition to her practices.
Do we travel for tournaments?
-Most tournaments are held locally, in Cerritos, Anaheim or Long Beach. All teams have 1 tournament in San Diego during the year. We also have the option of participating in travel tournaments.
We will have a meeting in January to discuss participating in the Volleyball Festival in Reno in June and July. Based on the interest of our players to attend the Festival, we will determine which teams will go.
For more information on the Festival, please view the Festival website.
What age group does my daughter try out for?
-The Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) organizes age groups as follows:
If your daughter is younger than 12 or turned 12 on or after September 1, 2007, she is eligible to play on a 12 and under team.
(We have had players as young as 9 play on our 12's team).
If your daughter is younger than 15 or turned 15 on or after September 1, 2007, she is eligible to play on a 15 and under team, etc.
Your daughter may play on a team that is above her age group, if her ability is higher than her age group.
What are the fees for your club?
-All club fees are discussed at tryouts. We offer a number of payment options and fundraising opportunities to assist your daughter in paying club tuition.
Tuition covers the following costs:
* Uniforms
* Equipment
* Club Insurance
* Tournament Entry Fees
* SCVA Membership fees
* Coaches Stipend
* Club Administration
* Practice Site Insurance
